Gazette moving to new home near town hall

GOODBYE ... to our old offices in Chapter Row.

GOODBYE ... to our old offices in Chapter Row.

THE Shields Gazette will soon have a new home – in the heart of its home town.

South Tyneside’s favourite paper has acquired new offices in Beach Road, opposite South Shields Town Hall.

We’ll soon be saying goodbye to our old home in Chapter Row, which is to be demolished as part of South Tyneside Council’s 365 masterplan for South Shields town centre.

But readers will still be able to come and see us every day in our new base.

Gazette editor Joy Yates said: “While it may be the end of an era for the Gazette in Chapter Row, it is hopefully the start of a new one in our new offices.

“It was absolutely vital for the Gazette to retain a home in South Shields town centre, and I’m delighted we’ve been able to do that.

“The new offices aren’t too far away from the old one and are right next to the town hall, so we look forward to seeing all our readers and advertisers as they call in.”

Details of when the new offices open will appear in the Gazette in due course.
