RETRO retailer Sarah Wilson is guaranteed a vintage year as she finalises plans for 2013.
Ms Wilson fulfilled a lifelong ambition last year when she opened up It’s Vintage Darling in Imeary Street, South Shields.
Her shop is an Aladdin’s Cave filled with clothes, shoes, accessories and ornate furniture – all 20 years old or more.
Now she’s aiming to expand the business by creating her own website.
And the 29-year-old is also planning a reprise of a vintage fair staged at the Freemason’s Hall in South Shields.
An inaugural event in November last year was a huge success, with more than 600 people attending over two days.
It is to be re-staged at the same venue, beside the town’s Morrisons supermarket, on the weekend of February 2 and 3.
Ms Wilson said: “Last year’s event was a great success and I’ve already booked nine dates at the hall for the coming months.
“I’m looking for other businesses which want to show off their wares and products to get in touch.
“The feedback I received at the original event was excellent.
“I had people coming up and saying they’d seen nothing like it in South Shields, that it was unique.
“If there are local companies out there wanting to promote themselves, this is a great opportunity.”
Entry to the fair is just 50p and stalls can be hired for £20.
Antiques, bespoke furniture, a vintage hairstylist, handicrafts and prints on T-shirts will be among the businesses represented.
Ms Wilson, who will also be selling her own goods from a stall, was helped by the Prince’s Trust charity to fulfil her dream of launching a business.
