UP FOR SALE ... The Tram Inn in South Shields Market Square.

A FAMOUS pub at the heart of South Shields Town Centre has been put up for sale.

Offers are invited for The Tram Inn, in the town’s Market Place.

The venue is one of a number which are being dispensed with by the Marstons Pub Company and is available on a 99-year ground lease and with two-bedroom accommodation.

Hopes were high for the venue early last year when it was taken over by Leanne Henson, landlady at the town’s Alum House.

She announced plans to convert the outlet, formerly Rosie Malones, into a real ale bar, but has subsequently left the premises.

The venue is being sold by Sidney Phillips chartered surveyors.
