ONE of the main bridges over the River Tyne was closed for four hours today after a lorry blew over in gale force winds.
The accident happened on the Redheugh Bridge, between Gateshead and Newcastle, at about 9.20pm.
The road was closed in both directions as police and other emergency services attended the scene.
There are not believed to be any serious injuries.
The bridge was re-opened shortly after 1pm after the stricken vehicle was recovered.
