A TURKISH barber says he is delighted to be the latest trader to sign up for the council’s parking redemption scheme.

Ali Sezer, manager of the Turkish Delight Barber Shop, in Fowler Street, South Shields, is already benefitting from signing on the dotted line.

His offer is that every customer who spends £20 on a haircut, shave or head massage will receive £2 off their bill.

It’s a move which has already paid dividends.

One local bank worker is in the shop every morning for a shave and parks up nearby – receiving £2 off the £7 cost of his bill.

Another regular utilising the offer is a borough serviceman who visits the premises every fortnight.

Mr Sezer said: “Business is going really well. We’ve been here for 14 months and we have built up a lot of regular trade.

“I joined the scheme because I think it’s a way of boosting businesses in then town centre,”

He added: “Joe McElderry comes here everytime he’s home. He enjoys our head massages.

“Josef Craig is another regular, he’s here for a haircut and shave every fortnight.”
