VIDEO: Salon’s styling has The X Factor!

Waiting for Video...

A BEAUTY salon in a South Tyneside village proved to be a cut above the rest after an X Factor singer flew hundreds of miles to have her hair styled.

Jade Ellis – who shot to fame on the hit ITV show last year when she reached the finals under mentor Tulisa Contostavlos – was given the celeb treatment when she called into Refine Spa in Whitburn.

The visit by the 26-year-old followed a chance encounter with staff from the salon, in East Street, at a fashion event in London a few months earlier, when they spoke to the singer about hair extensions.

The singer, who is working on a new album, said she would call in the next time she was in the North East.

And yesterday she flew from London to the salon, where she underwent a hair transformation.

Jade, who is due to embark on a tour with Barbados band Cover Drive, was styled with hair extensions by Easilocks.

Easilock stylist and nail technician Katie Hayes, who has worked at the salon for more than four years, said: “We were all excited to have Jade here at the salon.

“We had all the team in the salon as she is also going to have a few beauty treatments.

“It’s great Jade came up to have her hair done and we were all excited. All our clients know about it. Jade is the first celebrity we have had into the salon – so it is really exciting.

“As soon as Jade got in touch with us, it was all go. We went down to London to do a consultation on her last week, which was great as we were able to see a bit of London.

“It’s just excellent.”

During her visit, Jade was treated to a number of beauty treatments as well as a new hairstyle.

Jade, who was the fourth act to be voted off last year’s finals after losing a sing-off with boy band Union J, said: “I met Katie at an event and she really sold the salon to me and it was also a chance for me to try a new process when it comes to hair extensions – as well as a chance to come to Whitburn and find out a little bit more about the village.

“I’ve never been to Whitburn before or anywhere near Newcastle, so I am definitely going to come back for a bit of a party and these guys have said they will show me a bit of the nightlife.”

Jade added: “I’ve had extensions before but never using this process or the Easilocks so I am really looking forward to using these locks and seeing how it turns out.

“I have come all the way from London to the salon and I’m going back there tonight. All I can say is the salon is 100 per cent worth it.”
