GLEAMING FUTURE ... Michael Haley of Clean 'N' Gleam.

A YOUNG South Tyneside entrepreneur with the classic touch is a shining success after getting his business into gear.

Michael Haley, 26, launched Auto Clean ‘n’ Gleam in 2008, with financial support from South Tyneside Council and using his own money.

Initially, the business offered a mobile service to local car owners, operating through word-of-mouth and advertising.

Since then, the business has continued to attract new customers, and now has a permanent base in Jarrow, offering a specialist service to classic car owners.

Mr Haley said: “Throughout the years, regular customers have increased, and by last year the business had developed to the extent that I could acquire a permanent place to operate from.

“In March 2013, I opened an industrial unit on the Royal Industrial Estate, Jarrow. The unit was modified completely internally, to create a bespoke detailing studio, which features a temperature-controlled environment, with specialised lighting systems, to ensure vehicles are restored and prepared under the best possible conditions.

“Since then, the business and client base have continued to grow, and I have had great satisfaction working on prestige vehicles such as Ferraris, Aston Martins and Bentleys – to name a few -– on a regular basis.”

Auto Clean ‘n’ Gleam offers a wide range of packages, from fine waxes to paint protection sealants, all aimed at keeping classic cars looking their best.

Mr Haley added: “There are plans for extension in the next two years, with a view to building a new, bespoke detailing unit in the local area.

“These plans would also include employing one or two people from the area to be trained.

“Long-term, the objective is to establish internationally, as we already have clients from all over the UK who have their vehicles looked after by myself and my company.”
