A range of River Tyne trips are set to be put on by the Shields Ferry this summer.

A number of cruises, including live music, fish and chip trips, historical commentaries and on-board entertainments for children will be run by Nexus, which owns and operates the cross-Tyne service.

The musical line-up includes rock and roll, pop, blues, classic rock, soul and Irish Folk music.

The busy schedule has already started, and runs until October. Tickets are on sale at www.nexus.org.uk or from any Nexus Travel Shop.

Shields Ferry manager Carol Timlin said: “We’ve got another great offering of river cruises this year.

“The introduction of more trips featuring live music has proved popular and that line-up is back this summer, with a few new bands added to the list.

“The fish and chip trips and the river commentaries are a staple every year and they are both back, along with plenty of family fun days to keep the children entertained too.”

All cruises depart from South Shields ferry landing. Anyone travelling from North Shields can use their cruise ticket to make a crossing for the departure of the trip from South Shields landing.
