Bid to join bosses in hotseat

TOP PRIZE ... bid to join Martin O Neill, Alan Pardew or Tony Mowbray in the managerial hotseat.

TOP PRIZE ... bid to join Martin O Neill, Alan Pardew or Tony Mowbray in the managerial hotseat.

SOUTH Tyneside football fans are being offered the chance to get their hands on a dream prize – the chance to spend the day with the region’s top managers.

A Ladies Who Rock charity event is being held in Newcastle next month in aid of The Prince’s Trust, and among the auction prizes is the ultimate soccer experience.

Three separate football lots will go under the hammer – a day with Sunderland’s Martin O’Neill, Newcastle United’s Alan Pardew or Middlesbrough’s Tony Mowbray.

The successful bidders will get a glimpse of the manager’s professional life, as well as being picked up in an Aston Martin and driven to their ground.

Other prizes include the chance to appear in a film, become a presenter on a live radio show, and have a personal pantomime performed by a leading company at someone’s house or workplace.

The organisers are happy to accept phone bids in advance for the football lots, to open up the opportunity to buy these rare prizes.

Ladies Who Rock has been organised by a seven-strong committee of regional business-women led by Alison Morgan, the Prince’s Trust’s first female patron for the North East.

She said: “ We’ve pulled out all the stops to get some amazing money-can’t-buy prizes, which we’re sure our guests will love.

“And if they don’t want to keep them for themselves, some lucky people will get some amazing Christmas presents.”

The event includes a drinks reception, three-course lunch with wine, and a special appearance by top British fashion designer Jeff Banks, who will talk about his career in the industry.

And in keeping with the name of the event, there’ll also be a dazzling array of rocks raffled, including a £3,600 diamond pendant donated by North-East jeweller, Berry’s.

The event will include a fashion show with clothes from South Shields firm Barbour, and Cruise, plus a live performance from cappella group The Magnets, followed by afternoon tea with Pimm’s.

Ladies Who Rock takes place between 11.30am and 6pm at the Discovery Museum in Blandford Square, on Thursday, October 11. Tickets cost £95 per person, and tables of 10 are available.
