Cannabis plants recovered after house fire in roof

A drugs farm has been uncovered following a blaze in the roof of a house.

Firefighters from Hebburn, South Shields, Wallsend and Tynemouth were called to Pearson Place in Jarrow last night to deal with the fire.

Police called to the scene took 39 plants and say they will be destroyed.

A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: "Inquiries are now on-going into finding those involved."
