NEW CCTV footage of a woman missing from home since last Thursday has been released by police.

Pauline Whitfield, from South Shields, has not been seen since around 9.30pm on Thursday evening after failing to return home from Mecca Bingo in South Shields.

The CCTV image shows her in the bingo hall on the evening of the 63-year-old’s disappearance.

Officers are also keen for a woman who is believed to have spoken to Pauline at the bus stop to get in contact. The woman was wearing what appeared to be a stripy jacket and dark trousers, possibly jeans and was with a young girl who was wearing pink jeans.

Chief Inspector Michael Barton, of South Tyneside Area Command, said: “Officers have been viewing CCTV and we’ve identified a woman who was stood at the bus stop with a young girl. From the CCTV it appears the woman and Pauline spoke to each other and we’re keen for the woman to get in contact as she may be able to help with our inquiries.”

Pauline is described as white, five ft 1 inches tall, medium build, shoulder length strawberry blonde hair, green eyes, pale complexion with a mole on the right side of her face. She was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, a dark purple cardigan, black trousers and had a black shoulder bag.
