THE festive season has descended on Boldon with a range of Christmas events.
Members and supporters of West Boldon Residents’ Association kicked off the celebrations with a Christmas Tea at the Wheatsheaf pub in St Nicholas Road.
The event was organised to say ‘thank you’ to those who have helped to improve the village throughout the year.
On Tuesday, residents across the village are invited to Carols Around the Tree.
The event will be held on the village green on Rectory Bank with singers from West Boldon Primary and Junior School Choir.
The youngsters will be accompanied by the People’s Mission Silver Brass Band.
The carol service, starting at 6.30pm, has been supported by the Jarrow/Boldon Community Area Forum.
Hot soup on the night is being provided by the Red Lion pub.
Coun Joanne Bell said: “Christmas is such a fantastic time of year, and the West Boldon Residents’ Association and the local schools always work hard to make it a special time for people living in the village.
“The councillors are really pleased the Carols Around The Tree event is once again taking place, and we are only to happy to help them with a community area forum grant.”
