WELCOME ... Cancer Connections service manager Deborah Roberts discusses its annual report with Mayor Eilen Leask, watched by secretary Dave Kippax, Mayoress Coun Olive Punchion and chairman Reg Hall.

THE Mayor of South Tyneside welcomed charity workers to South Shields Town Hall for their annual general meeting.

Coun Eileen Leask and Mayoress, Coun Olive Punchion, met members of Cancer Connections, which offers support to cancer sufferers and their families.

The Mayor said: “I think the charity does an absolutely wonderful job, so I was delighted to welcome representatives to the town hall, where they had their annual meeting.

“Cancer Connections doesn’t just support the cancer sufferers and survivors themselves, but everyone else whose lives it affects: Family, friends, and partners.

“Their emotional and practical help is invaluable.”
