The death of popular boxer Dale Lincoln is the latest tragedy to rock the Horsley Hill Amateur Boxing Club.
In June, members of the club were left devastated when Grant Adams lost his fight for life less than 24 hours after suffering horrific throat injuries when he fell into a sunbed at his home in South Frederick Street, South Shields.
Last week, boxers handed Grant’s girlfriend, Sharna Gardner, a cheque for £3,500 which will be split between the Great North Air Ambulance and the couple’s baby, Rhkiya-Mae.
Dale is also the second popular local sportsman to be found dead at the same stretch of cliffs in Marsden in months.
The body of Boldon CA footballer Karl Carson was discovered by police at the foot of cliffs in July.
The 26-year-old had earlier attended an engagement party at the Marsden Grotto pub, where police had been called to the pub car park to deal with a disturbance.
Karl, from Boldon Colliery, was placed in a police vehicle, but the circumstances of how he came to be found at the foot of the cliffs are the subject of a Northumbria Police inquiry.
