A TOP tapas and cocktail bar could be in the hunt for a Gazette award.

The Riverside, at Mill Dam in South Shields, has been nominated for a What’s On Where award.

General manager Joss Carmichael admitted: “It is nice to be put forward. It is nice to be recognised as one of the best.

“I am really pleased and want to thank everyone who has put us forward.”

The Riverside has ten front of house staff as well as four in the kitchen.

Joss added: “We are a cocktail and tapas bar and we are open from 8am for breakfasts and serve tapas in the afternoon and evening as well as a range of top-quality

cocktails.”

Joss said the clientele tends to come from across the North-East, including Newcastle, as well as more locally to South Shields.

“We try to be top quality and appeal to everyone.”

The deadline for entries is Thursday, February 5. After that, the judges will meet to draw up a shortlist from all the contenders and it is already an impressive list.

Then, we will be revealing the winners on Thursday, February 26 in a glittering ceremony at The Best Western Roker Hotel.

The awards are held in association with our weekly entertainments guide, Wow 24/7.

They aim to reward the elite in everything from restaurants to children’s venues, takeaways to parks and

community areas, and hotels to the best shopping experience.

We want you to nominate your favourites in each of the categories listed on this page.

To nominate, either fill in the form in the paper, or do it along HERE.
