COMIC book fan Daniel Clifford has designs on a cartoon career.
Daniel is part of the Paper Jam Comics Collective, which is launching its latest anthology tonight.
Robots ... And That is a collection of science-fiction stories featuring planets, spacemen and, of course, robots.
It is the fifth book published by the non-profit collective, and new member Daniel, of Lilac Avenue, South Shields, is hoping it will lead to bigger things.
The 22-year-old said: "I've only just joined Paper Jam, so this will be my first launch party, and Robots ... And That is the first anthology I have submitted any work to.
"As a new member, it's great to have been welcomed into the group so quickly and be contributing straight away.
"I'll be graduating from a scriptwriting degree course in June, and comic books are one area of writing I really want to explore.
"Paper Jam has offered a great opportunity for me to get some experience."
The collective meets every other Thursday in the Newcastle branch of the Travelling Man comic book store.
It was formed just over two years ago by Jack Fallows, a shop assistant at the Grainger Street store.
He said: "We set up Paper Jam more than two years ago as a night for comic fans to come and hang out together, and maybe collaborate on projects, but it's only in the last year we've been putting these anthologies together.
"This one is our fifth and, hopefully, our best yet."
The launch party will take place at The Star and Shadow Cinema in Stepney Bank, Newcastle, at 7.30pm. Entry is 3 for Star and Shadow members, and 4 for non-members.
Some short films made by members of the group will be screened, and live music will be supplied by Daniel's band, Squares.
All profits from the anthology and ticket sales will be put towards the cost of future books.
The next Paper Jam meeting will take place at 6.30pm on Thursday at Travelling Man. New members are welcome.
