A FAMILY fun day is being lined up to help a South Tyneside hospice meet its £2m annual operating costs.
St Clare’s Hospice in Jarrow offers care to people with life-limiting illnesses but faces ever-increasing bills.
The fundraising fun day will be held at Bamburgh Grove Community Hall in Jarrow on Saturday, August 9, between noon and 2pm, with all proceeds going to the hospice.
Among the attractions will be games, stalls, food, face-painting and a raffle.
The event has been organised by the hospice’s day care team.
Pat Ogilvie, a day care worker, said: “The volunteers and day care guests, together with staff, have worked really hard to gather prizes and come up with ideas for the day.
“We held a similar day last year and want to encourage even more people to come along and join us for some fun.
“Last year, we raised about £1,000, and we hope to see a lot of people there to support us.”
The day care unit at the Primrose Terrace hospice helps up to 20 patients a day.
As well as holding activities such as quizzes, the unit arranges specialist care at the hospice and, in many cases, can help patients avoid hospitalisation.
