Jarrow care home honours staff with glitzy awards night

Staff members at Palmersdene, in Jarrow, enjoyed an evening of glitz and glamour as the red carpet was rolled out for an employee awards ceremony.

Workers donned evening gowns and suits as they were praised for the things they do to help residents at the Anchor care home, in Grange Road West.

Staff members were nominated by each other and managers and people who are cared for at the home chose the list of winners.

Manager Maureen Kane said: “It was an evening to give something back for all the hard work they do on a daily basis.

“Staff need to feel appreciated and saying thank you after a shift isn’t always enough. I am extremely proud of my staff here at Palmersdene for the love, dedication and care they give.

“It was a red carpet affair, everyone in their evening wear, with entertainment and food. All nominees were presented with certificates and medals and the winners of each category received prizes.”

Among the winners were Megan Graves, who was named team leader of the year, Pauline Smith who was handed the kitchen employee of the year title, Kelsey Lewis was named the most dedicated and reliable and Dawn Stewart was rewarded for going the extra mile.

Rebecca Farham was named the overall employee of the year.
