Siblings get to name pub play park

A family-orientated pub has opened a new play area for youngsters to enjoy.

The Mill Tavern on Mill Lane, Hebburn, built the facility and held a ‘like and share’ competition on Facebook inviting youngsters to name the new space.

Co-owners Sinia and Shaun Mohamed organised the competition back in July and the winners were Parker-Steele siblings Harvey, 13, Louie, one, and Poppy, six, who named it the ‘Parker-Steele Play Area’ .

They went along to the pub with mum Diane Parker to officially open it.

Sinia said: “We have had the pub a year now and we have always wanted a play area on the grounds.

“The play area was funded by ourselves and cost around £2,000. It was just something that we wanted to do for a while, but as we want to do so much with the pub, we have had to do things slowly.”

“We held a ‘like and share’ competition on social media asking somebody to name it back in July and our three winners came along to officially open it.

“They also plan to do handprints on the wall of the play area.

“We think it will be really successful.”
