A POPULAR centre at the heart of a South Tyneside community is again opening its gates to host a family fun day this weekend.
For the past four years, Chuter Ede CA has invited residents old and young from across the borough, to join staff and volunteers for a day of fun, games and laughter.
The annual event, which is taking place on Saturday, attracts crowds of more than 1,500 people and organisers hope this year will be even bigger and better.
As well as the usual fairground rides and table-top sale, there will also be an inflatable assault course, bouncy castle, live music, refreshements and children’s characters, including Dora and Elsa from Frozen.
Centre manager Jason Meiers, said: “The centre’s annual fun day always attracts large numbers of people through the gates, and each year it just gets bigger and better.
“This year we have live music and even more activities for the kids.
“The centre has been fundraising all year round for the event, and we have also had a little bit of help from the Biddick Hall Focus Group after they folded.
“So, hopefully, if the weather is on our side, it should be a good day for everyone.”
This year the fun day will be located in the main larger car park of Chuter Ede CA, based in Galsworthy Road, South Shields. Mr Meiers added: “Because of the scale of this year’s event we have decided to move it round to the larger car park.
“Unfortunately, we will have to put a small charge on the admission and are asking for £1 per adult to help cover the costs of putting on the day.
“However, free entry for children still remains.”
People will have the chance to find out more about the activities and sessions held within the centre, including activities provided by CE Sports.
The gates open at 11am and the fun days lasts until 3pm.
