HAVEN POINT ... will be officially opened by the Duke of Cambridge.

SOUTH Tyneside Council leader Coun Iain Malcolm today hailed the news that a Royal visitor is coming to South Shields.

Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, will officially open the £16m Haven Point swimming pool on Friday, November 22.

Coun Malcolm said: “I am absolutely delighted to welcome His Royal Highness the Duke of Cambridge to this superb new pool and leisure complex.

“Haven Point is a superb new facility that will be enjoyed by residents and visitors to the borough for years to come, and it will be a great honour to show the Prince the progress we are making with regeneration in the borough.

“In spite of an exceptionally difficult financial climate, we are continuing to invest in the future, and Haven Point is an iconic new building that everyone in South Tyneside can be proud of.”
