IT ASDA BE YOU... Maurice and Lindsay Goldsbrough at Asdas Boldon supermarket, with store sweethearts Jamie Bolter and Dawn Hall, and Sue and Steve Rodgerson.

LOVE is blossoming at a South Tyneside supermarket which has helped to match-make 15 couples.

Thirty employees at Asda’s store in Boldon have found their perfect partner while working in the aisles.

Among them is the manager of the store in New Road, Lindsay Goldsbrough, who met her husband Maurice there.

The pair, who started their careers as a checkout girl and customer focus manager, met in 1999.

Love blossomed between the two, who now live in Teesside, and this year they will celebrate seven years of married life.

The couple have one son, Benjamin, two.

Mr Goldsbrough, who is now the manager of Asda in Spennymoor, said: “As her boss I had asked her for some feedback and I was quite taken aback by her honesty. There was just an instant spark between us.”

As well as being a match-making location, the store also employs Steve and Sue Rodgerson, who have been married for 38 years.

The couple, who are a baker and admin assistant respectively, have two sons and three grandchildren.

Mr Rodgerson said: “We have a laugh – she sometimes comes down to the bakery and I sometimes go up to the office to see her.

“Working together has never been a problem.”
