A MAN has been arrested after an early-hours arson attack on a house in South Tyneside.
At about 2am yesterday, police received information about an accelerent being poured on to a front door in Perth Avenue, South Shields, and set alight, causing a small fire.
No one was inside the house at the time, and the fire was quickly put out.
This morning, police arrested a 34-year-old man on suspicion of arson, and he is currently in custody helping with enquiries.
