A MAN from South Tyneside who attacked someone in an early hours fight has been ordered to carry out community service.

Connor McCoy assaulted a man outside the Little Cuba Bar in Vine Place, Sunderland, at 4.30am on February 13.

The victim suffered facial injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

McCoy, of Perth Avenue, Jarrow, pleaded guilty at Sunderland Magistrates’ Court yesterday to common assault.

The 20-year-old was given a 12-month community order with 80 hours of unpaid work and was also ordered to pay £50 court costs.

n Thomas Kelly, 18, of Eighth Avenue, Chester-le-Street, also appeared before magistrates.

He denied assault and will stand trial in May.
