Baseball bat attack outside South Shields pub

A MAN suffered a fractured collar bone after being attacked by a gang armed with a baseball bat as he left a South Tyneside pub.

The 27-year-old had been in the Red Duster, in Whiteleas Way, South Shields, when an argument broke out between a group of people.

When he left the pub later, he was attacked by a gang wielding a baseball bat.

He was taken to South Tyneside District Hospital with a fractured collar bone.

Police believe a number of people were involved in the assault, which happened at about 11pm on Friday.
