A TRIO of thieves who walked into a South Tyneside home through an unlocked door have escaped with electrical goods.

The men struck at the address in Beech Street, Jarrow, between 2.30pm and 2.40pm on Sunday June 16.

One spoke to the householder while the others stole a Samsung television and Samsung Note mobile phone before leaving in a small white van.

It is believed that one of the men was carrying a knife.

The householder was left shocked but uninjured.

Detective Sergeant Paul Challoner, from South Tyneside Area Command, said: “An investigation is underway to identify the people responsible and we are appealing for people to contact us if they recognise the descriptions or saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area at around the time of this incident.

“We would also like to hear from anyone who saw a white van parked on Beech Street between 2.30pm and 2.40pm or in the area before or after that time.”

One of the men is described as being in his late 30s, with a shaved head, wearing a green jacket and dark trousers.

The second man is described as being of large build, with dark hair and wearing a blue jacket.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
