Police have appealed for witnesses after a break-in at a takeaway in South Shields.

Officers attended Happiness Takeaway, in Hudson Street, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: "Just after midnight on Sunday, April 2, police received a report of intruders at Happiness Takeaway in Hudson Street.

"A number of tools were stolen. A 33-year-old man has been reported for summons.

"Any witnesses should ring Northumbria police on 101 quoting reference 0003 030417 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
