TWO men have been arrested after a cannabis farm was found in South Shields.
Police discovered more than 100 plants during a search of an address in Beaufront Terrace, South Shields, yesterday.
Two men, aged 28 and 33, have been arrested on suspicion of producing a controlled drug.
Both are currently helping police with enquiries.
Neighbourhood Inspector Peter Sutton said: “This discovery and arrests has disrupted criminal activity and prevented a large amount of cannabis reaching the streets of South Tyneside.
“Northumbria Police is committed to disrupting the illegal supply of drugs and reducing drug-related crime.
“I would urge people to supply us with information on any suspicious activity so we can act on it and take action.
“Landlords should also make regular checks of their properties, to ensure it isn’t being used for criminal activity.”
