THIEVES who stole chicken from a South Tyneside farm are being hunted by police.
The theft happened between 11.45am and 2pm on Monday, at a farm in Sunderland Road, East Boldon.
The culprits gained entry to the pen before making off with five special-breed chickens.
Police are investigating the theft, and are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed it or any suspicious activity around the farm to get in touch.
Anyone who has been offered chickens for sale recently should also come forward.
