A MAN stopped by police while in possession of cannabis has been fined by magistrates.
Officers searched Denny Richardson, 32, after smelling the drug while on him while on patrol in South Shields at 11.40pm on Wednesday, August 14.
He had a tin containing cannabis in his pocket.
Richardson, of Horsley Hill Road, South Shields, was arrested and found in possession of another quantity of cannabis resin during a second search at the police station.
Richardson pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of a class B drug at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court.
He was fined £73 and ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £20.
