A DRUNKEN man was arrested after swearing at police officers.

Martin Leck was sitting on the front step of a flat in Imeary Street when officers asked him to leave the area.

They had been called by the occupant of the flat, who said she wanted the 33-year-old to leave, but he was refusing.

Leck, of no fixed abode, shouted abusive language at the officers.

He was warned about his behaviour, and then arrested.

He pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court, and was given an absolute discharge.
