A PAIR OF would-be thieves fled empty-handed after being disturbed by the owner of the house they were burgling.
The break-in happened at 8.15pm yesterday in Nora Street, West Harton, South Shields.
After being disturbed by the householde, they ran off in the direction of Harton Lane.
Both men were 6ft to 6ft 2in tall and of medium build.
Anyone with information, or who saw anyone acting suspiciously is asked to call police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
