Internet death-threat suspect in court

REECE ELLIOTT ... was due in court today to apply for bail.

REECE ELLIOTT ... was due in court today to apply for bail.

A SOUTH Tyneside man accused of making an internet threat to kill 200 American schoolchildren was due to make another request for bail today.

Reece Elliott was arrested last month after allegedly posting the threat on a Facebook memorial page for a girl killed in a Tennessee road accident.

The anonymous post, which said: “I’m going to kill at least 200 before I kill myself”, sparked a security alert at Warren County High School after it was discovered on February 6.

It was reported that about 3,000 pupils were kept off school the next day.

Elliott, 24, of Shrewsbury Terrace, appeared at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court the following Saturday, charged with making threats to kill and making a malicious communication.

No pleas were entered and magistrates asked for the case to be dealt with at Newcastle Crown Court.

He was remanded in custody until the charges are formally transferred to Newcastle on March 25.

The father-of-one has already made two applications for bail, which were refused, and he was due appear by video link from Durham Prison this afternoon to make a third.
