A MAN has been arrested after a woman was mugged and had her handbag stolen in South Tyneside.
The 62-year-old was in Park Road, Jarrow, when a man grabbed her handbag, pushed her to the ground and ran off.
She was left shaken and with cuts and bruises to her elbow.
There was an umbrella and a purse in the bag.
The purse has bank and store cards and a small amount of cash inside.
A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery and was bailed while police investigate further.
