A MAN was chased down a South Tyneside street by a weapon-wielding thug.
The victim had been heading along Erskine Road, South Shields, when a car pulled up beside him.
A man jumped from the vehicle waving what is believed to have been a machete or meat cleaver.
The attacker chased his victim down the street. He managed to escape unhurt and contact police.
Anyone with information about the attack, which happened at about 10am on Saturday, is asked to call police on 101 ext 69191.
