A MAN charged with attempted robbery and possessing a knife in a public place will have his case heard at the crown court.
Simon Harris is charged with having a knife in King George Road, South Shields, on Sunday, March 9.
On the same date he is alleged to have attempted to rob two people of cash and a phone.
No pleas were entered in regards to the charges when the 40-year-old appeared at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
The case was sent to Newcastle Crown Court for an initial hearing on August 5.
Harris, of Stanhope Road, South Shields, was granted unconditional bail until that date.
