A MAN accused of ‘stalking’ Joe McElderry’s mother was standing trial today.
Ennis McBride, who is charged with two counts of harassment without violence, was appearing at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court this morning.
He has pleaded not guilty to both charges.
The 53-year-old, of Rostrevor Road, Stockport, Greater Manchester, is said to have followed the South Shields X-Factor winner’s mother, Eileen Joyce, in the town’s Asda store on Christmas Eve last year.
He is also said to have tried to speak to her a number of times last September.
The trial was meant to start yesterday but, after several hours of legal debate between the prosecutor, Jeanette Smith, and McBride’s solicitor, Chris Mitford, no progress was made.
District Judge Roger Elsey adjourned the case until 10am today.
