Man stabbed in South Tyneside street



A MAN was stabbed in a South Tyneside street early today.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened at 12.22am in New Road, Boldon Colliery.

The victim, a 50-year-old man, was stabbed in the shoulder.

He was taken to South Tyneside District Hospital, though his injury is not thought to be life-threatening.

Two people have been arrested and are currently in police custody.

A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and a 28-year-old woman on suspicion of affray.

It’s believed those involved are known to each other.

Police are carrying out house to house inquiries in the area and additional officers are on patrol to reassure the community.
