James Docherty, who was just 17, died after a collision at the roundabout junction of the Redheugh Bridge and Askew Road West, in Gateshead, at about 4am on Sunday, July 24.

Police have tonight confirmed that Tyrone Quinn, of Hewitson Terrace, Felling, Gateshead, has been charged with causing his death by dangerous driving.

The 20-year-old also faces charges of causing death whilst disqualified from driving, driving whilst unfit through alcohol, driving whilst unfit through drugs and two counts of driving while above the prescribed drug limit. He will appear before South Tyneside Magistrates' Court tomorrow morning. Three other men arrested have been released with no further action.
