A MAN was found suffering from serious head injuries behind a town centre shopping arcade.
Police were called at 12.35am, yesterday, to the rear of the Denmark Centre, South Shields, near the Gala Bingo.
The alarm was raised by the ambulance service who had been called to treat the man, suffering from head and facial injuries.
The 25-year-old was taken to South Tyneside District Hospital for treatment, where his condition is described as stable.
Detective Sergeant Andy Richardson, from Northumbria Police, said: “We are trying to establish exactly what has happened to this man and are appealing for the public’s help.”
The man, described as having dark hair and wearing a blue denim shirt and chino trousers, is known to have been in Trocadero’s pub at about 9pm on Sunday.
Det Sgt Richardson added: “At the moment, we have witnesses who have seen the man on the ground. However, we need to know what happened before this, and we are trying to piece together the man’s last movements.
“I would appeal to anyone who may have seen him in Trocadero’s or near the Denmark Centre before he was found to come forward.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191.
