Metal worth thousands of pounds stolen from South Tyneside building site

THIEVES have escaped with thousands of pounds worth of metal from a South Tyneside building site.

The theft from the site in Cotswold Lane in Boldon happened between 3.30pm on August 1 and 7.10am on August 4.

Eight pallets of metal lintels were stolen.

It is thought the criminals used a flat bed or transit-type van or truck - to transport the metal.

They left the site via the entrance off Hutton Street.
