Murder detectives make forensic breakthrough

DETECTIVES probing the murder of John “The Badge” Roberts have made a forensic breakthrough.

They discovered DNA evidence at his home in Park Terrace, Winlaton, Gateshead, where he was found battered to death almost three months ago.

The find confirms both a man and a woman had been at the house where Mr Roberts – a well-known Newcastle United supporter – was found.

Detectives are now asking anyone who was at the house to come forward and be tested so they can be eliminated from the inquiry.
