NEWCASTLE United striker Nile Ranger has been arrested on suspicion of rape, it is reported today.
Northumbria Police confirmed they received a call on Thursday alleging a woman had been raped overnight at a hotel in Jesmond near Newcastle.
A spokesman said a 21-year-old man had been arrested at an address in Forest Hall on suspicion of rape.
A Newcastle United spokeswoman declined to comment about the arrest.
Ranger, a former England under-19 player, has had spells on loan at Sheffield Wednesday and Barnsley.
He has recently returned to the Magpies’ injury-hit first-team squad, and made a couple of substitute appearances.
