Police appeal after cash stolen in car break-in

POLICE are appealing for information after a car break-in in South Tyneside.

The incident happened at 3.55am yesterday in Rubens Avenue, Whiteleas, South Shields.

Thieves smashed the driver’s window on the vehicle before making off with a small amount of cash from inside.

Any witnesses to the theft are being asked to come forward.

Police are also urging people not to leave items in their vehicles when unattended, as it could tempt passing thieves.

As well as the value of items taken, motorists have the inconvenience of the damage caused, which can put the vehicle off the road for several days.
