Police appeal after spate of vandal attacks on cars

THREE cars parked in a South Tyneside street have been attacked by vandals.

The vehicles had been left in Green’s Place, South Shields, when they had the bodywork scratched.

The damage was caused between 7.30am and 3pm on Friday.

The attacks are the latest in a number of reports to police in the past week of damage to vehicles parked in streets around South Tyneside.

In Sphor Terrace, Westoe, one car had a window smashed.

The damage happened between 8pm on Sunday, February 23, and 9.30am the next day.

In Berwick Street, South Shields, a Citroen Berlingo was broken into between 6pm on Monday, February 24, and 7am the next day.

Nothing was stolen.

Neighbourhood Inspector Peter Sutton, said: “We would appeal to anyone with information or who may have seen people acting suspicious in the area, around the time of these incidents, to contact police.

“We would also like to remind people to ensure they continue to remove all items from view from their vehicles.”
