Police today released further images of a number of people they are keen to speak to after a serious assault which left a man fighting for his life.
The incident occurred at about 1.15am on Sunday, when a 40-year-old man was seriously assaulted in Times Square, Newcastle.
Emergency services attended and the man was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary, where he remains in a life-threatening condition.
It is believed the victim had been at Rustys bar in the square earlier in the night, celebrating a birthday with family and friends.
Detective Inspector Jane Fairlamb hopes the new images will help identify people who may have vital information about the incident.
She said: "There was a lot of people around at the time of this incident and we are keen for anyone who may have witnessed anything to contact police.
"No matter how small or insignificant you think the information is, it could be the vital piece we need to find the person responsible for this serious assault.
"A father is critically ill in hospital because of someone's violent behaviour, and we are asking the public to come forward and help seek justice for this victim.
"His family are still in a state of shock and living their worst nightmare.
"Please help and come forward to police or Crimestoppers - which is completely anonymous - with any information you may have."
Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting log 83 21/08/16, or independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
