Police check CCTV after bike theft near college

POLICE are checking CCTV footage after a bike was stolen from outside South Tyneside College.

The adult cycle had been left chained up outside the campus in St George’s Avenue, South Shields.

The theft happened between 5pm on Tuesday and 9am on Wednesday.

Neighbourhood Inspector Peter Sutton said: “This is the second time a bike has been stolen from outside the campus in recent times.

“The site is covered by CCTV cameras, and officers are looking at the footage recovered from these.”

Anyone with information on the theft or who has seen anyone acting suspicious near to the site is asked to contact police on 101 or 0800 555111.
