Police hunt for owner of South Shields cannabis farm lock-up

POLICE are continuing their hunt to find the owner of a lock-up where a cannabis farm was found.

Officers raided the property in Wapping Street on Wednesday seizing about 100 plants.

It is thought the cannabis farm, discovered after information from the public, had a potential street value of about £100,000.

An investigation has now been launched to find those responsible and to trace the owner of then property.

Inspector Peter Sutton of the West Shields and Riverside Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We responded to community concerns about drug use in the area and suspected criminal activity.

“We’re committed to acting on the information we receive about crime and disorder in the community and I hope this reassures people that when they raise concerns they will be acted upon.”
