Police issue appeal after shop robbery

Police have issued an appeal after a man armed with a knife launched a shop robbery.

The incident took place late last month at the Partners store, in Wardley, Gateshead, according to police.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: "At 5:30pm on Sunday, November 27, a man entered the Partners store in Keir Hardie Avenue, Wardley, armed with a knife.

"He threatened the staff member before making off with an amount of money.

"The man was wearing a grey hooded top, grey jogging bottoms and a black scarf covering his face.

"Inquiries are ongoing into the robbery and anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 836 27/11/16."
