Police are asking the public to help them find how a woman came to be found injured at the side of a busy North East road.
At about 4.35pm yesterday, Northumbria Police received a report that a woman had come out of a moving vehicle on the eastbound carriageway of the A69, near the Bridgeway roundabout, just outside Hexham.
Emergency services attended and the woman was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
One lane of the A69 was also closed so police could help manage the incident.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding it are ongoing, and police are appealing for any witnesses to get in touch.
The vehicle is believed to be a black Ford Fiesta, and a 23-year-old has been arrested in connection with the incident.
If you have any information about the incident, you can call police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
